Differentiated Literacy Centers
Providing second graders with differentiated, hands-on “literacy centers” consisting of various highly-motivating manipulative exercises and critical-thinking games is essential to the learning process. These exercises help reinforce specific reading comprehension, writing, word/work skills and concepts, as well as assist students in developing concrete, abstract, and critical thinking skills.
Language Arts and Social Studies in the 21st Century
iPads are the teaching tool of the future. This grant provides 3 iPads as a complement to other teaching resources in Salt Brook’s 5th grade classrooms. The goal is to foster independence and self-motivation. Students have designated times to work on programs using research, geographical references, maps, and websites, as well as grammar practice and reading resources.
Daily Integration of Technology in 1st Grade
The NPEF awarded this grant to enable Salt Brook’s 1st grade classrooms to purchase laptops, laptop carts and age appropriate software.
