refreshments while raising funds for all four New Providence Schools and OUR
children’s education!

This year’s the 5K committee is introducing a
NEW Team format for all four New Providence schools.  The team that brings
in the most money will win fabulous prizes including Jingle Ball Tickets for
High School teams (max of four to team); Sporting Event Tickets (Devils,
Nets, Jets, OR Giants) to Middle School; and Game Truck for Elementary school
teams (max of 10 kids)!    Even if you can’t participate the day

raise and distribute monies for all 4 schools in the New Providence School
District. These grants are teacher-initiated, help supplement existing
programs, and provide for new and innovative efforts, many of which would not
otherwise be funded.

NPEF
AWARDS THREE SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year two students (one female and one male) are
chosen from the New Providence High School graduating class and awarded an NPEF college scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each.   These scholarship recipients are chosen by the NPHS guidance department in an effort to make certain that college scholarships awarded are spread across deserving students rather than having a small number of students receive multiple awards.  The NPEF Scholarships focus on the “Unsung Heroes” of the senior class who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

This year’s scholarships were awarded to Jordan Langs and Jake Vignali.    Jordan
is currently attending University of Delaware.
“I am so proud of my daughter for being awarded the NPEF scholarship – very proud that our great town recognized all she has done volunteering with the animal shelter, organizing food drives, and working with other local initiatives.  It was an honor for her and our family” said her father, Bernie Langs.

“It was an honor to receive this award and to know that the NPEF views me as the person NPEF President, Hugo Barth described on stage. I am extremely grateful for the very generous scholarship”, said Jake Vignali who is studying Criminology at Lynchburg College.  “I am proud of the person he is and thankful to the NPEF for recognizing him for all he has achieved”, added his mother Flo Vignali who just returned from visiting him.

We remember and honor Christine Romeo by presenting a third scholarship in her memory to Colin Forbes.  Colin is attending the University of Wisconsin  and is studying chemical engineering.  “I am so proud of him.  He is one of the kindest, considerate and most loyal people I know”, said his mother, Kate Forbes.

HOT TOPIC: BOARD REFERENDUM VOTE

SET FOR SEPTEMBER 27TH

On September 27th a VOTE will be held for a $15.9 million dollar referendum for the New Provident School District.   A Referendum is a public vote which
gives a school district the ability to finance infrastructure by issued
bonds.   This referendum will affect ALL New Providence residents as
our student population continues to grow, so do our schools.

For more information and to educate yourself about the referendum, please visit www.npsd.k12.nj.us

Don’t forget to VOTE Tuesday September 27th from 7 am
to 9pm at one of three locations (Decorso Community Center, New Providence Municipal Building,  or NP Fire House) depending on your district!
