Reading Comprehension – The Super QAR
The Question Answer Relationship (QAR) is a research-based method for getting students to think about what they read. The Super QAR, a program published by the Wright Group, aims to provide a shared language to make the largely abstract process underlying how we make sense of text concrete for students.
Through this program, students are taught to analyze text structure. They are also taught to indentify the types of questions generally asked in reading class and on standardized tests. They are then taught different strategies to address each type of question.
The NPEF grant helped fund the purchase of the Super QAR program for Grade 2 at Salt Brook School.
