Grants in Action

Book Club Books

Reader’s Workshop is a fundamental element of Language Arts in the third grade.  To best meet the needs of all learners, adequate books are essential to all classrooms.  The goal is to provide students the opportunity to read complex, high-interest text with deep comprehension.  The units of study for third grade require readers to work in small book groups with identical text throughout the year.  In these groups students have the opportunity to talk with peers and make sense of that they have just read.  It is though these regular group interactions that students develop comprehension and communication skills.
